Individual Therapy for Adults

Individual Therapy for Teens

We recognize that where people are at a particular moment in time is a function of what they have been through. We aspire to teach people that they can overcome their pasts and, through hard work and discipline, learn to reframe their thoughts to function more effectively.

The teen years are a time of great flux and change. We teach teens to be aware of their thinking so that they can learn better frustration tolerance skills. We lean heavily of application of DBT skill development and CBT strategies to assist teens in learning to gain some amount of control over their thoughts, feelings and behaviors.

Services

Family Therapy

All therapy for children is contingent upon family involvement. Children do not exist or behave in a vacuum. As such, to help them we engage families as a whole to jumpstart the healing process.

Trauma Therapy

Many people experience difficult and painful traumas. We attempt to teach them that through learning to reframe their beliefs about the trauma they do not have to let what has happened to them define and control them.

Substance Use Disorders

We address substance use using choice-based therapies and engaging in DBT skills acquisition while maintaining a non-judgmental, empathetic and supportive stance toward the individual who is struggling  with use.

Depression and Anxiety

We specialize in these disorders, focusing on how thoughts influence feelings and actions, the difference between needs versus wants, and the influence for demand thinking on depression and anxiety.

Therapy

Our counseling services integrate existential theory,  CBT/REBT modalities  and DBT skills approaches, focusing on providing quality care to adults and older teens. We address lack of meaning, trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders.

We emphasize choice and responsibility but strive to always validate the client's emotional experience. Therapy should be about getting better, not just feeling better. We use active-directive and challenging interventions that aim to allow clients to learn how to help themselves.

Approach

01

Existential, CBT/REBT, & use of DBT Skills

Our theoretical framework is existential cognitive behavioral therapy, and we rely heavily on REBT interventions and modalities. We use DBT skill building techniques to give clients the means to help themselves become self-sufficient. Our aim is to be non-judgmental, empathetic and to meet people where they are, but to always be supportively directive, pushing clients to engage in session and to develop self-discipline in their thinking.

02

Limited Sessions

We emphasize a focused approach with limited sessions to empower clients in their healing journey. While we are always ready to listen and validate, the goal is for you to not need us: to be able to self-regulate, think for yourself, and be able to dispute your own negative beliefs that lead to unwanted feelings and behaviors.

03

Empowered Healing

We believe that while it is important to understand the events that led to today, ultimately it is what you do with the information and tools that you have today that is important. It is all well and good to feel better in the moment, but is more important to get better: to learn the skills that will help you have healthy thinking that will bring about more adaptive feelings and behaviors.
